Elko and New Market were both cities located in Scott County, Minnesota. Both of them had fairly small populations and sizes. As it often goes with two small cities that are located next to one another, the government decided that a merger was in order. The two cities joined into a single entity, and a slight name change was in order.The new city is called Elko New Market, Minnesota. It is growing at an impressive rate. It seems that the merger was a great idea. It's located near Interstate 35 and Couty Road 2 in Scott County. It is still considered a relatively small city with a relatively low population, yet it has a few very popular attractions and some good things going for it. It's growing at a surprisingly fast rate regarding population.

But what exactly is it that attracts people to this area? It's likely a combination of many small things. For one, people enjoy the small size and small population. The citizens here feel more like a family than they do neighbors. Most people know one another, and there are plenty of social activities taking place in the community.

There is an 18 hole championship par 72 golf course called Boulder Pointe opened in 2002 it also has a beautiful clubhouse and a community pool that anyone in the city can enjoy during the summer months. While the golf course is short in length, it has plenty of challenge in it with the wetlands surrounding the majority of holes. The green complexes are its biggest defense with average size but very undulating and difficult to read. Green fees are very reasonable, and they run specials all during the season they also have a men's league and a women's league that is very fun and relaxing and is a pay to play format which gives you the flexibility to show up or not every week.

The golf course is surrounded by beautiful golf community houses and townhouses with plenty available land to build on. There is also numerous homes for sale that are move in ready and reasonably priced to sell. There are plenty of bars, restaurants in Elko, New Market to choose from six to be exact so if you are looking for a good meal with the family or you are out on the town with some friends, there is plenty of variety to accommodate everyone.

Of course, there's also the Elko Speedway. This racetrack is enough to attract any hardcore racing fan no matter where they are from. It was first opened in 1965 and has become famous for its races held on certain Saturday evenings. People who love watching races tend to like living in cities with a racetrack. The races held at the Elko Speedway are fast, exciting, and always very memorable.

They also have live bands all throughout the summer months and also have an ole fashion drive-in movie theater which recently opened and is running all summer long for those late night movie goers, one of very few left in the state. It's one of the reasons there's always a lot of traffic in this small town on the weekends.

As for schools, there is only one public school located in the city. That is the Eagle View Elementary school. The rest of the schools located in the district are actually in the neighboring towns. They are considered the New Prague and Lakeville Independent School District.
